By establishing a consistent global operational readiness approach, this role plays a key part in accelerating successful ramp‑ups while ensuring robust GMP compliance. It supports faster, more predictable transitions from project execution into sustainable operations across the Bachem Group

Your responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a global operational readiness framework bridging project delivery into sustainable GMP operations

  • Build and manage integrated startup and ramp-up plans across Operations, Manufacturing Science & Technology, Engineering & Maintenance, Quality, Logistics/Supply Chain as well as IT

  • Define readiness criteria across key domains (people, process, systems, assets, documentation, training, organizational alignment)

  • Establish readiness governance routines (reviews, escalation paths, action tracking, risk management, standardized reporting)

  • Integrate GMP readiness expectations into project execution, including validation readiness, SOP and batch record readiness, and training completion

  • Hands-on support of ongoing projects to improve collaboration, clarify task allocation, and accelerate activities

  • Drive execution through structured project management, coordination, and follow-up without direct authority

  • Implement readiness KPIs and dashboards with transparent stakeholder reporting

  • Actively remove barriers and coordinate timely decision-making during startup and ramp-up phases

  • Capture lessons learned and continuously improve readiness standards, templates, and playbooks

  • Support digital enablement of readiness processes, including standardized trackers and dashboards

Your Profile:

  • University degree (Master) in Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business Engineering, or related field

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in pharma or CDMO environments with exposure to GMP operations and cross-functional projects.

  • Demonstrated experience in operational readiness, startup/ramp-up, commissioning-to-operations handover, or technology transfer

  • Proven ability to drive execution via projects, governance, and lateral leadership without direct reports

  • Strong interface experience with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, R&D, Logistics/Supply Chain, and IT

  • Strong understanding of operational readiness concepts in regulated manufacturing

  • Familiarity with structured risk, milestone, and action management

  • Excellent written and spoken English (C1) is mandatory. Fluent German to interact on the ground in our Bubendorf site is a benefit

  • Willingness to accommodate global collaboration and travel of approx. 20–30% irregularly depending on project pipeline and stages.

Our offer:

  • The role offers broad exposure across global Technical Operations and close collaboration with senior stakeholders, enabling strong professional visibility and the opportunity to shape group‑wide readiness standards long term

  • A dynamic and rapidly growing work environment with internal development opportunities

  • Employee development through numerous internal and external training opportunities

  • 60% coverage of pension fund contributions by Bachem AG as well as option for extra-mandatory pension provision with our Pension Plan Plus

  • Access to the Swibeco benefits platform with discounts from external partners

  • Fresh, healthy and varied food in our staff restaurant

  • A wide range of free sports activities on the Bachem Campus

  • This role is global with an initial focus on Switzerland and selected projects in California
