Middle School Social Studies Teacher

Bishop Hogan Memorial School in Chillicothe, Missouri is seeking candidates for a full-time middle school teacher with an emphasis on social studies for the 2026-2027 school year. Classroom instruction in other subjects will also be required.

The teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic Church by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of students within the framework of the school's philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The teacher provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth. The teacher has decision-making responsibilities in keeping with school policies and the Diocesan Administrative Manual. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal.

•Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.

•Be a role model of Christian love, faith, truthfulness and virtue.

•Manage the class by setting clear expectations of behavior, establishing reasonable routines, and promoting self-discipline based on Catholic principles.

•Perform a variety of duties as assigned by Administration.

•Demonstrate professional responsibility in confidentiality, sound judgment, dress, enforcing diocesan and school policies and general behavior.

•Assess and monitor student progress.

•Promote positive relationships and effective communication with all staff, parents and students.

•Prepare and implement effective lessons using the diocesan standards.

•Be an active member of a faith community. Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

•A Bachelors degree in Education from an accredited university

•A valid teaching certificate

•Trained in Protecting God's Children or willing to be trained.

•Ability to utilize technology for instruction and learning.
