About This Position

The Construction Laborer’s duties include labor work related to road construction. Labor work may be with asphalt, concrete, or dirt/grading crews depending on previous experience and current openings. Position posted for the 2026 construction season with an estimated start of May of 2026.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Loads, transports, and unloads tools, equipment, and supplies required for each project
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
  • Use all hand tools of the trade safely & proficiently
  • Complete high-quality work at a fast pace
  • Must be willing and able to work long hours & weekends
  • Must be safety-oriented at all times
  • Work respectfully with supervisor staff, crew members, and other personnel on the job site
  • Be able to operate some motorized equipment and be willing to learn how to operate motorized equipment
  • Direct traffic using various traffic control devices near, in, and around work zones, when needed
  • Cleans job site at the end of the day, ensuring trash is properly disposed of and materials or equipment are accounted for and returned to their designated storage area
  • Assists equipment operators by motioning to the operator to help with alignment, movement, and adjustment of the equipment
  • All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations

Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic (dependable, excellent attendance, trustworthy)
  • One year of construction experience is a plus, but not required
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
  • Physical requirements

  • Must be capable of strong verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
  • Must have clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments
  • Must be capable of standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Must have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
  • Must be able to reach overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
  • Must be capable of occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Working conditions

  • Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
  • Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
  • May be required to work 60+ hours, 6 days a week
