Hively is seeking an entrepreneurial and mission-driven Manager to lead the daily operations of our internal Innovation Incubator. This role translates organizational priorities into well-run pilots by developing, testing, and refining new ideas, programs, and operational improvements. The Incubator Manager is highly collaborative, operationally strong, detail-oriented, comfortable working across departments, and persistent in achieving results. Working with the Director of Special Projects as part of a lean and dynamic team, the Manager is both a thought partner and an executor.
Some weekend and evening work may be required.What you will do:
  • Pipeline Development & Strategy
  • Actively seek out and document a pipeline of incubator ideas from Hively staff and partners.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities that align with Hivelys mission and goals.
  • Develop initial ideas into well-structured pilot concepts for review by Hively leadership. Tasks also include:
  • Researching trends, best practices, and comparable models
  • Developing briefing books
  • Contribute to the development of metrics and systems to track incubator performance, outcomes, and learning.
  • Pilot Operations & Management
  • Lead the implementation of pilot projects across diverse programmatic areas, such as strategic outreach, mental health, technology, education, real estate and public-private partnerships.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the internal incubator, including cycles, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Develop tools, frameworks, and processes needed for pilot success.
  • Execute on a range of pilot-specific implementation tasks.
  • Document lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of the incubator model.
  • Collaboration & Engagement
  • Build a culture of innovation by engaging staff and external partners in idea generation and collaborative problem solving.
  • Work closely with Hivelys Marketing and Communications, Programs, Community Services, Mental Health, Finance and People Operations Departments to support pilot initiatives.
  • Facilitate brainstorming sessions, pilot debriefs and learning exchanges within and across teams.
  • Provide input into organizational communications, such as draft grant proposals, talking points, social media content, and white papers to share incubator learnings with internal and external audiences.
What you should bring:
  • Bachelors degree in business, nonprofit management, social innovation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, consulting, or organizational development.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, launch, and scale new programs or initiatives.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and timelines, and tracking outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading pilot programs or new initiatives in a professional setting.
  • Familiarity with design thinking or human-centered design.
  • Understanding of nonprofit funding models, grant reporting, or program evaluation.
  • Start-up experience.
  • Spanish language proficiency.

Salary ranges are based on industry data, and final employment offer will be determined based upon factors including but not limited to an applicant's experience, specialized skills, and internal alignment.

Work LocationThis hybrid role offers work-from-home flexibility, subject to manager approval and based on job performance and business requirements. You may also be required to work from other Hively locations within Alameda County as operational needs arise.
