What We Need:
The Food Safety & Quality Technician is responsible for supporting day-to-day responsibilities of the Quality Department to ensure production operations meet established food safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This position performs routine in-process inspections and line checks in Processing, Filling, and Packaging; supports product/material holds; assists with investigations and CAPA follow-up/enforcement; provides GMP support and oversight; and maintains accurate documentation to support procedural compliance and audit readiness.
What You Will Do:
- Perform scheduled line checks per SOPs/specifications in processing, filling, and packaging, maintaining on-floor presence to daily expectations.
- Verify conformance to quality and packaging requirements (as applicable):
fill/weight, container/closure integrity, seal checks, label/component verification, code/date accuracy and legibility, defect/appearance checks, case pack accuracy. - Conduct routine GMP/food safety inspections: hygiene, housekeeping, foreign material controls, line clearance, cross-contamination prevention, and allergen control practices (when applicable).Perform preoperational and line clearance checks during startup and/or during product changeover
- Identify and communicate issues; escalate potential food safety risks immediately and support containment actions.
- Assist with HOLD procedures: tag/label, segregate, document lot details, and maintain control of held product/materials.
- Assist with deviations/nonconformances and investigations: gather facts, samples, records, and complete required documentation.
- Support CAPA enforcement: track/verify corrective actions are implemented on the floor and support effectiveness checks as assigned.
- Maintain clear, timely, and accurate records (check sheets, logs, inspection forms, hold logs, deviation/CAPA documentation) following good documentation practices.
- Support audit readiness through organized records, controlled form usage, and participation in GMP walkthroughs/audit activities as assigned.
- Perform additional QA/QC tasks as trained/assigned (sampling, basic testing such as pH/temperature/ATP, pre-op checks).
What You Need:
- 1–2 years of experience in a quality/inspection role within food, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred
- Experience with SQF/GFSI, HACCP, ISO, and/or FDA concepts, allergen control programs, and/or CCP verification activities.
- Experience with packaging/label verification, coding checks, and seal/closure inspections.
- Experience supporting holds, investigations, and CAPA follow-up.
- Basic lab/testing experience (e.g., pH meter, viscosity, ATP), as applicable
- Ability to work and thrive in a high-paced, high-volume work environment.
- Able to interact with cross-functional teams to ensure Food Safety and Quality
- Working knowledge of GMPs, sanitation/hygiene expectations, and manufacturing recordkeeping/document control.
- Ability to follow written procedures, interpret product/package specifications, and document results accurately using good documentation practices.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize and escalate nonconformances and potential food safety risks.
- Basic math skills (weights/measures) and comfort performing repetitive checks consistently
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; frequent bending/reaching.
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs (adjust to your site standard).
- Work in a manufacturing environment requiring PPE with noise exposure, moving equipment, wet floors, and temperature variation.
- High school diploma or GED required.
