Job Summary: For the Patient Access Center — The Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist provides efficient, accurate, and effective customer-focused communication services to enhance our patients’ experience. Answers telephone calls in a timely manner and, when appropriate, screens and transfers calls, takes written messages and routes the message to the appropriate location or individual. Properly documents the disposition and outcomes of all calls, following stated protocols. May complete outgoing calls or send written communications to patients. The Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist is responsible for ensuring that medication prior authorization requests are reviewed and processed in a timely and accurate manner. The Pharmacy Prior Authorization Team has a strict 72-hour turnaround time to start the medical review. Review of the patient's EMR and other pharmacological resources will be used with each request to ensure appropriate prior authorization. The Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist will involve direct interface with group physicians, pharmacy providers, and patients. May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification: Active California Pharmacy Technician License. 2 years of college coursework or Vocational Degree. Minimum of 5 years work experience in a pharmacy setting. Experience using typical office systems including personal computers, telephones, scanners, copy machines, and using Microsoft Office and Outlook programs. Strong medication class knowledge and terminology
Salary Range: $21.99 - $30.95 Salary will be commensurate with experience.
