Salary will be $16.50 per hour
Full-time position working 37.5 hours per week
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm
Job Summary
Are you ready to bring your culinary skills to a meaningful role? We are seeking a caring and reliable Cook to prepare nutritious meals for children ages 1–5 in our Early Childhood Center. This position is responsible for meal preparation, food safety, kitchen cleanliness, and compliance with all federal, state, and local guidelines. If you enjoy cooking with purpose and supporting young children’s growth, we’d love to have you on our team.
A Snapshot of What You’ll Do
- Plan, prepare, and serve meals and snacks according to approved menus and the federal food program
- Ensure proper food receiving, storage, preparation, and sanitation procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free kitchen environment
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment according to manufacturer guidelines
- Keep accurate food service records for reimbursement and compliance
- Order food and supplies in coordination with the Director while staying within budget
- Support confidentiality and privacy policies related to client information
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen
- Current Food Service Handling Certificate (Safe Serve required)
- Ability to stand, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs.), and work on your feet for extended periods
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and basic nutrition
- CPR/First Aid and DCF training preferred (or completed after hire)
