Position: Certified Sterile Processing Technician

Pay: $25.60- $31.38

POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the effective cleaning, inspection, maintenance, proper sterilization and distribution of sterile instrumentation and equipment. Is a team player and works collaboratively with the OR to ensure all supplies, instrumentation and equipment are available for surgical cases as well as other procedures requiring sterile supplies and/or instrumentation. Assists the nurses and physicians in delivering the highest standard of patient care available. Is knowledgeable in sterile processing standards and serves as a patient safety advocate. THIS POSITIONs HOURS ARE: 9:30 AM - 6 PM.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility:

• High School diploma or GED
• National Certified Registered Central Service Technician – Healthcare Sterile Processing Association within 1 year of hire Or
• National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician – Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution within 1 year of hire
• Basic computer skills

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

• Successful completion of a sterile processing course. Or 1 year of healthcare experience.
• 1 year of Sterile Processing experience.

Critical Thinking: Ability to clean and assemble instruments, organize equipment, instruments, and supplies in department and in case carts according to preference cards. Ability to handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks. Above average organization skills.

Knowledge: Working knowledge and experience in a hospital, sterile processing department, or ambulatory surgery center. Ability to anticipate the needs of the OR and has trays, instruments, and supplies readily available for all procedures. Ensures that an adequate number of in-house trays, instruments and supplies are available in accordance with daily/weekly caseload.

MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDES: Computer and telephone. Standard surgical instrument use and processing, equipment, and medical supplies. Autoclaves and washer/sterilizer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Occasional overtime. Must handle stress in meeting time demands.
