Position Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Building Services Supervisor is responsible for the efficient, safe, and effective operation of SBCHC facilities. This role oversees custodial, maintenance, and transportation staff, ensuring that all buildings, grounds, and support services meet regulatory, safety, and operational standards. The Supervisor plays a key role in supporting patient services by maintaining clean, functional, and compliant environments across the Health Center.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide daily supervision of custodial staff to ensure buildings and grounds are clean, attractive, and well maintained
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and local ordinances, regulations, and safety standards
- Monitor and manage the Building Services ticket system; delegate service requests and follow up to confirm timely completion
- Supervise the SBCHC shuttle driver, including monitoring shuttle GPS systems and required vehicle maintenance
- Work collaboratively with Human Resources to address employee performance and conduct issues
- Assist with the coordination of trash removal and disposal of hazardous waste in a safe, orderly, and environmentally responsible manner
- Support facility renovations and remodeling efforts to minimize disruption to patient services and protect patient and employee safety
- Assist in ensuring facility compliance with emergency preparedness and safety codes
- Monitor SBCHC parking areas to ensure appropriate usage by patients, visitors, and staff
- Complete required administrative paperwork and documentation
- Assist with onboarding and training of new custodial staff
- Perform daily rounds of facilities to identify maintenance, cleanliness, or safety needs
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 3–5 years of custodial or maintenance supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks based on organizational and operational needs
- Ability to supervise staff and manage day to day operations effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a community health or ambulatory care setting
- Familiarity with work order or facilities ticketing systems
- Experience supervising union staff
- Knowledge of OSHA and healthcare compliance standards
