Not a remote or hybrid position. This role requires 100% onsite work in Cordova, Alaska.

ICHC ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES ASSOCIATE

Work Location: 100% onsite in Cordova, AK. Remote/hybrid work not available for this position.

Schedule: Part Time Regular 17.5 hours per week

FLSA Status: Hourly & Eligible for Overtime Pay

Essential Notice:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Ilanka Community Health Center Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary clinical environment in accordance with healthcare standards. This position performs routine cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, restrooms, and common spaces to support infection prevention and patient safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Cleans and disinfects patient care areas, exam rooms, treatment rooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas according to established protocols.

· Follows infection prevention and control procedures, including proper use of disinfectants and personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Removes trash, medical waste, and recycling in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

· Cleans and maintains floors, surfaces, fixtures, and furnishings.

· Restocks cleaning and sanitation supplies as needed.

· Reports maintenance issues, or supply shortages to appropriate staff.

· Strong understanding of HIPAA, and confidentiality standards to ensure lawful handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).

· Performs routine and deep‑cleaning tasks according to schedules and clinic needs.

· Cleaning of clinic housing as needed.

· Participate in infection control training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF ALL STAFF

· Follows all NVE policies and related department procedures.

· Works safely in accordance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.

· Immediately reports unsafe conditions, hazards, or injuries to HR or the designated safety contact.

· Attend all mandatory special events, meetings, and trainings.

· Assists with special events, meetings, and trainings as necessary.

· Maintains confidentiality at all times.

· Maintains awareness and sensitivity to various cultures.

· Embodies Tribal values throughout all work.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SUPERVISORY DUTIES

None. This position has no supervisory duties.

o Previous cleaning experience in healthcare environment preferred.

o Preferred: : Possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of an insurable driving record in accordance with the company’s auto insurance policy requirements.

While performing the essential functions of this position, employees may be exposed to the following conditions:

Primarily Indoors

· Majority of work will be completed in a medical primary care clinic with varying temperatures and humidity levels depending on facility conditions. Some work is completed in office or residential housing location.

· Potential exposure to biological materials, bodily fluids, and medical waste common in clinical environments.

· Work may involve contact with regulated medical waste, sharps containers, and contaminated materials, requiring strict adherence to infection prevention and safety procedures.

· Exposure to hazardous chemicals and chemical vapors may occur when using disinfectants, cleaning agents, or sanitation equipment.

· Overhead lighting is typically fluorescent or LED.

· Occasional exposure to noise from cleaning equipment and facility operations.

Other Requirements: Required to submit to a background check and follow the NVE Tribe’s drug policies.
