About This Position

Position SummaryThe Field Manager – Carpentry Department is responsible for overseeing all field operations related to carpentry projects. This role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to company quality standards. The Field Manager leads carpentry crews, coordinates schedules, maintains safety compliance, and upholds Fitzpatrick Painting & Construction’s commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key ResponsibilitiesField Operations ManagementOversee all day-to-day field operations for the carpentry department.

Plan, schedule, and coordinate manpower, materials, and equipment.

Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope.

Monitor productivity and efficiency of field teams.

Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality and safety standards are met.

Team Leadership & SupervisionSupervise carpenters and crew leads.

Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback.

Enforce company policies and safety procedures.

Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations.

Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and craftsmanship.

Quality ControlMaintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.

Perform final walkthroughs to ensure projects meet company and client expectations.

Address deficiencies promptly and implement corrective actions.

Client & Internal CommunicationServe as the primary field contact for carpentry-related matters.

Communicate project progress, delays, or issues to management.

Collaborate with sales and estimating teams to ensure project alignment.

Ensure a professional and positive client experience on every job site.

Budget & Performance ManagementMonitor labor costs and job profitability.

Track productivity and implement improvements where necessary.

Ensure materials are used efficiently and minimize waste.

Safety & ComplianceEnforce all OSHA and company safety standards.

Conduct job site safety meetings and inspections.

Ensure crews maintain clean and organized job sites.

Qualifications5+ years of carpentry experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Strong knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction practices.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and crews simultaneously.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read blueprints and project specifications.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
