About the Role:

The Youth Services Coordinator plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing programs that support the educational and social development of young people within the community. This position focuses on creating inclusive and engaging library and community-based initiatives that foster learning, vocational skills, and personal growth. The coordinator will collaborate with local organizations, schools, and volunteers to expand outreach and ensure programs meet the diverse needs of youth populations. By leveraging expertise in library science and community organizing, the role aims to enhance access to resources and opportunities for youth empowerment. Ultimately, the Youth Services Coordinator contributes to building a supportive environment that encourages lifelong learning and active community participation among young individuals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in the human services field; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage volunteers and coordinate community outreach activities.
  • Familiarity with library operations and youth services.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet company driver selection criteria.
  • Self-directed with an ability to develop goals and initiatives and deliver on those initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within non-profit organizations or community-based programs.
  • Background in vocational training or workforce development for youth.
  • Proficiency in grant writing and fundraising.
  • Bilingual abilities or experience working with diverse cultural communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan, and execute youth-focused programs and events in library and community settings.
  • Engage with community partners, schools, and non-profit organizations to expand program reach and impact.
  • Manage volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination to support program delivery.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to identify and address the needs of diverse youth populations.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, preparing reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.

The required skills such as program development and community engagement are essential for designing impactful youth services that meet community needs. Library science knowledge supports effective resource management and program integration within library settings. Volunteer management skills enable the coordinator to build and sustain a committed team that enhances program delivery.
