This is a strategic architecture role focused on modernizing and evolving mission-critical applications within the insurance sector.
You will shape complex solution architectures while balancing scalability, resilience, performance, security, and business value.
The role combines hands-on technical leadership with architectural governance and long-term modernization strategy.
You will work closely with engineering squads, architects, business stakeholders, and enterprise clients to drive key technical decisions.
A major focus will be on distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, cloud environments, and legacy modernization.
You will also mentor architects and technical leaders, helping strengthen engineering practices and architectural capabilities across teams.
This is an opportunity to influence high-value platforms while working in a collaborative, agile, and technically demanding environment.
- Design, validate, and continuously evolve high-complexity solution architectures for mission-critical insurance applications.
- Define and promote architecture, engineering, and design-pattern best practices across technical squads.
- Provide strong technical leadership, maintaining oversight of development activities and ensuring architectural decisions are effectively implemented.
- Lead modernization strategies, including application coexistence, data migration, cutover planning, and legacy-system transformation.
- Drive improvements in platform performance, scalability, resilience, availability, and observability.
- Participate in technical reviews, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), proof-of-concepts, design discussions, and other key architectural decisions.
- Act as a technical reference and point of contact in meetings with clients and technology stakeholders, translating complex technical topics into clear recommendations.
- Mentor software architects and technical leaders, supporting both their technical development and career progression.
- Support quality, security, governance, and compliance initiatives within regulated environments.
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.
- Contribute hands-on to engineering activities, including design decisions, PoCs, and code reviews when required.
- Support technical team management by providing direction, guidance, and architectural leadership across development initiatives.
- Solid experience as a Solution Architect, System Architect, or senior technical leader on complex, mission-critical projects.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Java/Spring Boot and Angular, including the design and implementation of production-grade microservices and APIs.
- Advanced experience with Spec-Driven Development (SDD), technical risk and complexity assessment, legacy-system analysis, and large-scale data modeling.
- Strong knowledge of distributed architectures, microservices, and event-driven systems.
- Practical experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka and/or RabbitMQ, particularly in high-volume transactional environments.
- Experience with cloud architectures, preferably AWS, as well as modern engineering and deployment practices.
- Knowledge of observability, monitoring, troubleshooting, resilience, and fault-tolerance patterns for distributed systems, including Circuit Breaker approaches.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams, mentor software architects and technical leaders, and make sound architectural decisions.
- Experience working in agile, multi-squad environments and collaborating effectively across technical and business teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-level reports and explain technical subjects in clear, accessible language.
- A hands-on leadership mindset, with the ability to balance strategic architecture with practical engineering and delivery needs.
- Experience in regulated industries such as banking or financial services is a plus, particularly knowledge of BACEN and LGPD requirements.
- Additional advantages include experience with legacy modernization patterns such as Strangler Fig, ACL, and CDC, as well as AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes/EKS, Infrastructure as Code, advanced CI/CD, DDD, Clean Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, CQRS, Event Sourcing, and highly available, high-volume transactional systems is desirable.
