Job Description

The Regional Vice President (RVP) of Local Sales, under the direction of the President of Sales, provides strategic leadership and direction for local and regional sales efforts within an assigned territory. This role aligns national sales initiatives with local market strategies, ensuring consistent messaging, structure, and execution across all go-to-market activities.

The RVP of Local Sales leads a team of direct reports, including regional and remote sales professionals, with full responsibility for recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and mentoring high-performing sales talent. This role emphasizes sales growth, value creation, and customer relationship development, driving increased gross profit performance through strategic sales execution.

The RVP partners closely with Finance, Operations, Marketing, and National Sales leadership, as well as Business Unit Presidents, to identify new opportunities, strengthen customer relationships, and support the development of sales plans that expand profitability and market reach.

This position focuses on commercial roofing sales to end-user decision makers, including building owners, property managers, facility executives, and general contractors.

Specific Job Duties:

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Champion and communicate the company’s vision and national sales strategy, ensuring alignment across local markets and regional teams.
  • Develop and implement regional sales strategies that merge national goals with local opportunities to drive sustainable growth.
  • Ensure consistent messaging, structure, and go-to-market execution across all markets to reinforce brand integrity and the customer experience.
  • Work with Business Unit Presidents to identify areas of opportunity for improved gross profit outcomes, supporting value-based sales strategies and planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Business Units to communicate the value of the company’s services and solutions effectively, driving higher-margin sales through trusted customer relationships.
  • Identify and develop new vertical markets, underutilized customer segments, and regional opportunities to expand revenue potential.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to align customer expectations and service capabilities with regional growth goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Partnership

  • Collaborate with Business Unit Presidents on regional growth strategies, customer development initiatives, and local market positioning.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, National Sales, and Marketing leaders to ensure alignment between sales performance, financial goals, and brand standards.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to ensure consistent messaging and support regional campaigns that enhance visibility and brand awareness.
  • Partner with National Account Teams to localize corporate initiatives and integrate national opportunities into regional sales activities.
  • Foster transparent communication and teamwork across departments to strengthen organizational collaboration and customer engagement.

Team Leadership, Training & Development

  • Lead and manage a team of direct reports, including regional and remote sales managers and representatives.
  • Oversee all aspects of recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and performance management for the sales team.
  • Develop and deliver training and development programs to enhance selling skills, relationship management, and consultative sales techniques.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development to elevate team capabilities and ensure alignment with company values.
  • Promote a collaborative, performance-driven culture focused on growth, accountability, and excellence.

Sales Performance & Execution

  • Monitor sales performance, forecasts, and KPIs, leveraging data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive gross profit enhancement strategies through improved sales execution, strategic customer targeting, and value-driven engagement.
  • Ensure consistent and professional sales processes, communication standards, and customer experience across all regional teams.
  • Collaborate with Business Units to support pricing and profitability objectives by reinforcing the value proposition during the sales process.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to the President of Sales and executive leadership team.

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key commercial clients, building owners, property managers, facility directors, and general contractors.
  • Partner with local sales teams and Business Units to strengthen relationships with high-value customers and expand partnership opportunities.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking forums to increase brand visibility and market presence.
  • Stay informed on market conditions, competitive activity, and industry trends to guide regional sales strategies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with key external decision makers, partners, and customers.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple strategic initiatives while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Demonstrated expertise in value-based selling, solution selling, and building long-term customer relationships that drive increased revenue and gross profit.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Marketing, and National Sales to ensure alignment on business objectives and market strategies.
  • Financial and business acumen, including understanding of revenue forecasting, sales performance metrics, and profitability analysis.
  • Ability to analyze market data, trends, and performance metrics to identify growth opportunities and develop actionable regional strategies.
  • Familiarity with commercial construction processes and terminology, including a general understanding of project lifecycles, scopes of work, and contract structures.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • CRM expertise is required; experience using Salesforce or other CRM systems to manage pipelines, analyze performance, and drive accountability.
  • Understanding of strategic business development, account management, and customer segmentation to identify and capture untapped opportunities.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with the agility to pivot strategies based on market changes or emerging customer needs.
  • Ability to communicate and reinforce the company’s value proposition, ensuring sales efforts focus on profitable, long-term growth rather than transactional wins.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive sales leadership experience in commercial construction services, such as roofing, building envelope, mechanical, or general contracting industries.
  • Proven success managing multi-location or distributed sales teams in a performance-based environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing sales professionals, with a focus on coaching for consultative and value-based selling.
  • Strong record of driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and improving gross profit performance in a project- or service-based business model.
  • Experience partnering with operations, finance, and estimating teams to align customer needs with service capabilities and profitability targets.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute regional sales strategies that align with national goals while addressing local market opportunities.
  • Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and other digital tools to track opportunities, manage performance, and forecast results.
  • Background in commercial construction or related construction service industries with exposure to customer decision-making processes, contracting methods, and market dynamics.
