With deep technical expertise and a responsive support model, AP4 helps you stay online, on schedule and in control, no matter what challenges arise.

We are currently seeking a qualified Junior Technical Field Advisor to join our team! This is an early career, hands-on field role ideal for someone who wants to build deep expertise in heavy-duty rotating equipment while working alongside experienced OEM-trained advisors. You will support outage execution, learn advanced mechanical practices, and develop the technical judgment required to progress toward independent TFA responsibilities.

What will you do?

  • Support on-site mechanical maintenance, inspections, and outage activities on Alstom gas and steam turbines under the guidance of senior Technical Field Advisors.
  • Assist with disassembly, inspection, measurement, reassembly, alignment, and basic troubleshooting of turbine and related rotating equipment.
  • Follow detailed work packages, procedures, and safety plans; document findings, measurements, and as-found/as-left conditions accurately.
  • Help coordinate tools, materials, and site resources; support daily job planning and toolbox talks.
  • Communicate clearly with customer representatives, craft labor, and internal teams regarding job status, observations, and safety concerns.
  • Contribute to high-quality technical reports, service reports, and time/expense documentation.
  • Maintain a strong safety-first mindset and strict adherence to HTS, customer, and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Participate in structured training, on-the-job mentoring, and continuous skills development.
  • Travel extensively to customer power plant sites, often on short notice and for extended periods.
  • Act with honesty and integrity in all work, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Promote AP4 safety policies and company culture.

Why you’ll love working at AP4!

  • Team culture focused on building trust and empowering everyone to do their best work!
  • Medical, dental, prescription and vision coverage available on your first day of employment!
  • Health Savings Account Employer Contribution of $1500 for individuals or $3000 for families who enroll in a high-deductible health plan.
  • Telehealth benefits.
  • Matching 401(k) plan.
  • Competitive paid time off plan and 10 paid holidays.
Requirements:

What do you need to qualify for this role?

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, or related) or equivalent military / industrial experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 0–3 years of relevant field, plant, or shop experience with turbines, generators, large rotating equipment, or heavy industrial machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and willingness to perform hands-on work in industrial environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory background check and drug screening.
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.
