Job Description
Job Description Summary
The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Controller and requires an energetic, service oriented individual responsible for supporting various aspects of finance and accounting. This role requires a strong work ethic, good time management skills, and communication skills in accordance with the core values of Scott Group Studio.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle accounts receivable, including billing and cash receipts
- Perform posting of cash receipts, expenses, or other transactions to the general ledger and verify accuracy
- Assist in year-end activities, including preparation work for review and tax
- Assist in preparation and review of monthly financial statements
- Review and reconcile vendor, customer and credit card statements
- Support Controller by classifying, recording and computing financial data
- Draft and manage clear, professional email communication with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Coordinate and execute projects and tasks assigned by the Controller and other members of the company leadership team as needed
- Handle purchasing of raw materials, including arranging domestic/international freight
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 1+ year of relevant professional accounting experience following completion of degree preferred
- Self-motivated individual who has a great attitude
- Detail oriented
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Results-driven personality and ability to plan and achieve department goals
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and resourcefulness in decision making and problem solving
- Ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong Excel skills required, including the ability to maintain spreadsheets and use formulas for data analysis - Experience with Business Central and/or Microsoft Great Plains a plus
- Ability to travel using a variety of transportation
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to use a phone
- This position requires regular sedentary work with occasional movements about the workspace
