The Vice President of Commercial Lending is responsible for the strategic leadership, growth, administration, and overall performance of WEOKIE’s commercial lending division. This role oversees commercial lending production, portfolio management, credit quality, and operational effectiveness while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and sound risk management practices. The VP of Commercial Lending serves as a strategic partner to executive leadership in balancing loan growth, credit quality, concentration risk, liquidity considerations, and long-term organizational objectives. The position promotes a culture of prudent underwriting, disciplined portfolio management, strong member relationships, and collaborative leadership while supporting WEOKIE’s mission and cooperative values.
- The Vice President of Commercial Lending:
- Directs and oversees all aspects of WEOKIE’s commercial lending activities, including relationship development, loan production, portfolio administration, and operational performance.
- Develops and executes commercial lending strategies, business plans, and growth initiatives aligned with organizational goals, risk appetite, and profitability objectives. Oversee the development and enhancement of commercial lending products, processes, service delivery standards, and operational efficiencies.
- Promotes a culture of prudent underwriting, sound credit administration, and disciplined portfolio management consistent with regulatory expectations and safe and sound lending practices.
- Oversees commercial loan portfolio quality, including concentration management, delinquency trends, criticized/classified assets, covenant monitoring, and ongoing credit risk reporting. Participates in and/or leads commercial loan committee activities, ensuring credit decisions align with policy, regulatory expectations, and WEOKIE’s long-term strategic objectives.
- Ensures commercial lending maintains a strong market reputation, extends the reach of WEOKIE'S brand, produces a solid financial return for the cooperative and effectively serving community-based organizations.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement, technology enhancements, and operational scalability to support sustainable growth and member experience. Identifies and oversees the management and integration of third-party vendors to provide a strong service delivery to organizational owners and ensures vendor contractual commitments are met.
- Recruits, develops, coaches, and evaluates commercial lending staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- WEOKIE'S mission and vision are achieved in a manner that serves credit union stakeholders (members, employees, and organization).

- Specialized or Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- The VP of Commercial Lending must possess substantial experience and competence in a wide variety of areas which may affect a financial services organization of greater than $1 billion assets.
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is required (Masters preferred).
- Five years’ experience in executive leadership is preferred and is helpful if this experience is in retail financial services, including experience managing and leading high-level supervisors.
- At least seven years’ experience in commercial financial services.
- Entrepreneurial talent to create, develop, and execute on new ventures and other opportunities is required.
- Outstanding communication skills, including written, verbal, and listening skills are required.
