Job Description

Summary:
The MRO Test Technician is responsible for functional testing, troubleshooting, and verification of AC & DC generators and associated components during overhaul and repair activities. This role ensures equipment meets CMM specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer quality standards prior to release to service. The technician operates test benches, interprets technical documentation, and supports continuous improvement in a safety critical, regulated aerospace environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform functional, performance, and acceptance testing of generators (AC/DC).
• Set up, operate, and monitor generator test stands, load banks, and automated test systems.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures using schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Validate repairs by verifying output voltage, frequency, current, load response, insulation resistance, and thermal performance.
• Above average understanding of electrical/electronic principles including ohm's law.
• Accurately complete test reports, inspection records, and any additional ATP / documentation required.
• Ensure all test activities comply with OEM manuals, FAA/EASA regulations, and internal quality procedures.
• Supports the lead and maintenance technician in performing routine checks and basic maintenance on test equipment and fixtures.
• Support engineering and quality teams during non conformance investigations and root cause analysis.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area to a 6S standard.
• Operates and understands a FIFO approach to testing.
• Has an understanding of company quality management system procedures.
• Accurately completes and takes responsibility for documentation of testing performed.
• May also perform build of similar new components per work instructions, for testing purposes.
• Able to read and interpret electrical/hydraulic power diagrams.
• Regular, predictable attendance is required.
• Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.

Physical Demands:
• Ability to work in a manufacturing test cell with exposure to noise, vibration, fluids, and temperature variations.
• Sitting 35%, Walking 10%, Standing 40%, Lifting 15% (up to 25lbs alone, then with a partner/machine).

Production Floor

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of experience as a generator test technician in an industrial, aviation, or military organization OR an electrical certificate from an accredited institution is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:
• Ability to Read, Write and understand English.
• Proficient in writing reports for quality.
• Proficiency using electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, load banks).
• Familiarity with generators, alternators, voltage regulation, and power electronics.
• Basic computer skills for test systems, data entry, and documentation.
• Above average ability to troubleshoot complex mechanisms.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
• High attention to detail and quality mindset.
• Ability to work independently and follow standardized work instructions.
• Able to learn how to perform new tasks quickly.
