Job Description
Ready to Make a Difference?
If you're ready to use your skills to make a meaningful difference in the life of a young person, we want to hear from you! Apply today and become part of our mission to support and uplift the next generation.
Some young people face homelessness, instability, and barriers that make succeeding in school difficult. They need someone who will see their potential, build trust, show up for them, and help them find a path forward.
The Youth Education Advocate provides advocacy, guidance, case management, and support to homeless and unaccompanied youth. This position works directly with youth in schools, shelters, and the community to address barriers to education, support academic success, and help youth prepare for their future. This is more than a job. It takes a special person who is patient, compassionate, persistent, and willing to show up when a young person needs them most.
What You’ll Do:
- Identify and support youth eligible for McKinney-Vento services and protections.
- Engage youth face-to-face in school to build relationships, provide support, and address barriers to educational success.
- Provide assessments, advocacy, guidance, case management, and service coordination.
- Support youth with school attendance, transportation, meals, scholarships, career exploration, and post-secondary planning.
- Support youth participating in Youth Housing Assistance Programs.
- Conduct outreach and visits to schools, shelters, homes, and community locations.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate, timely documentation.
- Collaborate with schools, SCC staff, shelters, and community partners.
The ideal candidate is someone who believes every young person deserves a chance to succeed. Someone who celebrates the small victories, doesn't give up when things get difficult, and understands that sometimes being the consistent adult who shows up can change a young person's life.
