The Role
GrizzlyTrek is hiring local labourers in Cambridge Bay for construction of the new community power plant, on behalf of our valued client, an Edmonton-based power generation contractor working for Qulliq Energy Corporation. Steady work into 2028.
Work at home, on the plant that keeps the lights on. You do not need industrial experience to start. Site orientations are provided and the crew will train you on the job.
Inuit Hiring Priority
Priority will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement. If you are a beneficiary, please say so in your application.
What You'll Do
  • General site labour: material handling, cleaning, painting, grinding
  • Help the pipefitters and electricians run piping, cable and cable tray
  • Keep the work area clean and safe every day
  • Follow the site safety plan and the orientations we give you
What You Bring
  • Fit for physical work, indoors and outdoors, in winter conditions
  • Reliable, on time, able to work a 12-hour day
  • Steel-toed boots. We supply the rest of the PPE.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
  • First aid and WHMIS
  • Fall protection
  • Aerial work platform
  • Loader or telehandler
  • Any previous construction, camp or trades helper experience
Work Environment
  • Active power plant project, indoors and outdoors, in northern conditions
  • Local hire, so you are home every night. The rotation still sets the work schedule.
  • Full PPE required at all times. Orientations are provided before you start.
The Pathway: Indigenous Talent Stream
  • This is a pathway job. Labourers who show up and learn can move toward a trade apprenticeship through our Indigenous Talent Stream.
  • We do the apprenticeship paperwork with you: registration, trade school planning, and training funding applications where you are eligible.
  • Contract to permanent with no placement fee in the way. When a GrizzlyTrek worker converts to a permanent hire with the client, our fee is waived.
  • Mentorship and check-ins on site from day one.
