Location & commitments
Full Time/Part Time/Temporary/Supplemental roles based at our Farmville location, Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Early and late hours required. Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care of, tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner. Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.
Supervision Received: Reports to Clinical Supervisor; Operations or Clinical Manager; Director of Operations.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids.
Typical Working Conditions:
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
About the role
The Nursing Assistant performs under the direction of a physician, mid-level provider, RN, or LPN and within the framework of the office policies and procedures for the clinical department
Responsibilities: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
- Complete Prior Authorizations.
- Assist patient to complete health history.
- Perform accurate measurement of vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight and height.
- Record all allergies, medications, and pertinent lab work
- Assist the physician or mid-level provider with common procedures which involve little or no modification from one situation to another and may be performed with a predictable outcome.
- EKG
- Assist with Pap smears
- Set up sterile tray
- Assist patients via lifting and turning as needed utilizing proper body mechanics
- Assist patient to and from vehicle via wheelchair as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Perform errands as delegated by station supervisor.
- Restock and cleans exam rooms maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
- Keep clinical supervisor informed of high-risk situations.
- Demonstrate appropriate use in cleaning of equipment.
- Practice infection control, following OSHA guidelines and office policy.
- Maintain yearly CPR certification
- Attend fire safety classes, clinical meetings and other continuing education classes as offered by Physicians East, PA
- Presents a professional image and follows dress code as per office policy.
Other duties:
- Maintains patient confidentially.
- Keep management informed of high-risk situations.
- Demonstrate appropriate use in cleaning of equipment.
- Practice infection control, following OSHA guidelines and office policy.
- Maintain CPR certification.
- Attend fire safety classes, clinical meetings, compliance, and other continuing education classes as offered by Physicians East.
- Adheres to department and office policies.
Candidate requirements
- Graduate of an accredited degree Respiratory Therapist program and current license through NCRCB is required. Prior healthcare giver experience required.
- Experience in electronic medical records (EMR/HER) software required.
- Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate and interact professionally with others.
- Ability to actively listen.
- Ability to observe and to draft a narrative account of events accurately and cogently, in grammatically correct English.
- Ability to spell, proofread and edit written text.
