The Inside Pipe Puller accurately pulls, packages, stages, and loads pipe and related materials for customer pickup and delivery. This position also unloads incoming shipments, verifies materials, stocks products, and helps maintain an organized and safe warehouse and yard.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide a positive experience for both internal and external customers.
- Follow company procedures and safety requirements.
- Learn the pipe rack layout, bin location system, and the different products stocked by the company.
- Assist customers and coworkers with locating and loading pipe.
- Stock counter pipe bins and place materials in the correct locations.
- Accurately pull, package, and stage orders for customer pickup or delivery.
- Load materials safely and efficiently.
- Unload trucks and receive incoming materials.
- Inspect incoming shipments for the correct address, branch, quantities, and possible damage.
- Document shortages or damaged materials on freight bills.
- Use RF scanners, barcode equipment, and receiving documents to help maintain inventory accuracy.
- Report vendor shipping errors according to company procedures.
- Safely operate material-handling equipment while following all safety regulations.
- Assist the yard and other departments as needed.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication, teamwork, customer service, and stress-management skills.
- Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills, with or without a calculator.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn RF scanning and barcode equipment.
- Ability to operate standard office and warehouse equipment.
- Ability to learn product types, pipe locations, and warehouse processes.
- Previous Hi-Lo/forklift operating experience is required.
- Previous experience operating a 4-directional Hi-Lo is preferred
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or
- Six months of warehouse, shipping, order-picking, or related experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequently required to talk, hear, walk, stand, push, pull, carry, grasp, handle, bend, stoop, and use fingers.
- Regularly required to climb, kneel, reach, sit, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Must perform essential job functions safely and with consistent alertness.
- Vision requirements include near and far vision, depth perception, and color vision.
- Work is performed primarily indoors with occasional outdoor exposure to extreme weather conditions.
- Noise levels are generally moderate.
- Ability to pass a substance abuse screening.
