  • Ensure all curriculum materials align with applicable New York State standards, academic expectations, and desired student outcomes.
  • Embed inquiry-based learning, conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving throughout the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with academic leaders, instructional coaches, and other curriculum writers to maintain coherence across subjects, courses, and grade levels.
  • Gather and incorporate feedback from educators and student performance data to continuously refine and strengthen curriculum materials.
  • Manage project deliverables and deadlines in partnership with the designated project lead while maintaining a consistently high standard of instructional quality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing and/or teaching high-quality secondary or middle school science instruction.
  • Demonstrated experience developing rigorous, engaging, standards-aligned curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Strong knowledge of science content and effective middle school instructional practices.
  • Experience designing lessons, units, assessments, labs, projects, and other student-centered learning experiences.
  • Ability to develop curriculum that promotes inquiry, conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and real-world application.
  • Experience using educator feedback and student performance data to evaluate and improve instructional materials.
  • Strong written communication, organization, collaboration, and project-management skills, with the ability to work independently in a flexible consulting environment.
  • A growth-oriented, collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to educational excellence, equity, and student success.
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required.
Benefits
  • 12-month, project-based consulting engagement with an immediate start.
  • Fully remote work, with collaboration conducted remotely or in person when project needs require it.
  • Flexible work schedule, with deliverables and deadlines agreed upon with the project lead.
  • Compensation of $15,000–$25,000 per project unit, depending on experience and project scope.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on middle school science education and student outcomes.
  • Collaboration with academic leaders, instructional coaches, and experienced curriculum professionals.
  • Purpose-driven environment focused on high academic achievement, equity, growth, and lifelong learning.
  • This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement; consultants are responsible for their own taxes and are not eligible for employee benefit plans.
