Web Application Developer in Buffalo Grove, Illinois at Paragon Micro Incorporated

Paragon Micro is looking for an experienced full-stack application developer to design, build, and maintain the applications that run our e-commerce and operations business. You will work across the entire stack on our standardized Node.js, Next.js, and React toolset — from database and API design through to the front-end experiences our teams and customers rely on every day. Day to day, you will ship features that touch real workflows: e-commerce platforms, internal tooling, and integrations between the systems that keep purchasing, fulfillment, and sales moving, with NetSuite at the center of much of that work. Our team plans, tracks, and communicates primarily through Microsoft Teams and Office 365, and builds with modern AI-assisted development tools as part of its everyday workflow. This position can be filled remotely.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications on our standardized Node.js, Next.js, and React stack, written in TypeScript
• Build and consume RESTful (and where appropriate, GraphQL) APIs to connect internal and third-party systems
• Develop responsive, maintainable user interfaces in React within our Next.js applications
• Model data and write efficient queries against relational and document databases
• Build applications and integrations that interact with NetSuite and other core business systems, e-commerce platforms, and vendor APIs, partnering with our dedicated NetSuite developers on the ERP-side implementation
• Write clean, testable, well-documented code and participate in code review
• Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of applications in production, including our migration to a new Microsoft Azure hosting environment
• Collaborate with operations, e-commerce, and business stakeholders, primarily over Microsoft Teams and Office 365, to turn requirements into working software

Key Traits and Skills:

• A self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an aptitude for learning new technologies
• Able to work independently and own projects end to end while collaborating effectively across a distributed, fully remote team
• Comfortable communicating and managing work primarily through Microsoft Teams and Office 365
• A solid working understanding of how NetSuite operates — its data model, records, workflows, and how external applications integrate with it. You will not own NetSuite code (two dedicated NetSuite developers handle that), but you will work alongside it constantly, and knowing how it works will make you far more effective
• Able to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs into working software

• Minimum 7 years of professional full-stack development experience (7–10+ preferred)
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, with hands-on application development on a Node.js runtime
• Strong React experience, including production applications built with Next.js (server-side rendering, route handlers, and server actions)
• Solid fundamentals in HTML and CSS
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs (GraphQL where appropriate)
• Working knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub, including branching, pull requests, and code review workflows
• Experience integrating AI LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) or MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers into development projects
• Experience deploying and operating web applications in the cloud, with Microsoft Azure strongly preferred — we are building a new Azure environment as our hosting standard (our current applications run largely on Vercel and AWS)
• Familiarity with Python for scripting, automation, or data tasks is a plus
• Familiarity with Gulp for front-end build automation is a plus
• Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex is a plus
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker) is a plus
• Must be a U.S. citizen

Compensation Philosophy at Paragon Micro

We are offering a salary up to $150,000 annually, which is inclusive of a bonus. The compensation reflects the diverse levels of experiences we are seeking in our candidates and is intended to provide a general framework—not a guarantee of placement at the maximum salary.

Importantly, this base salary and bonus structure does not represent the full scope of our total compensation package, which includes a comprehensive benefits offering, 401(k) retirement plan and profit sharing.

The final compensation offer will be determined based on your unique qualifications, including relevant experience, skills, and the value you bring to the role.
