Job Description

Description:

Creation is calling. This isn't just a summer job, it's a mission.

Spend your summer teaching campers to notice things they'd otherwise walk past. As a Science Center Associate, you'll care for animals, lead outdoor education experiences, and help campers connect what they're seeing to the God who made it.

If you're looking for something that actually matters, not just a paycheck, this is it.

What You'll Do
  • Care for Science Center animals and maintain activity areas
  • Lead activities including Creation Walk, fishing, Animal Encounters, and more
  • Help campers engage with God's creation through fun, educational experiences
  • Assist with camper arrival and departure on weekends
  • Participate in camp activities planned by the Recreation and Ministry Departments, primarily after dinner hours
  • Flex into other roles and temporary assignments as needed, including Cabin Leader
What You Get
  • $275/week + housing and meals included
  • Hands-on animal care and outdoor education experience
  • Live on-site with a built-in community
  • Teaching and program delivery experience that stands out on a resume
  • A summer that impacts lives, including your own
Important Role Details
  • This is a live-in, residential role
  • Requires active participation in a Christian ministry environment
  • Allergens present in the Science Center include tree nuts, peanuts, gluten, citrus, and animal dander
Requirements:

What We're Looking For

  • A professing Christian with a personal faith
  • Able to handle and care for Science Center animals following all departmental guidelines
  • Comfortable working around the allergens listed above
  • Interest in teaching and working with youth
  • Willingness to be fully engaged in a live-in summer camp environment

Physical Requirements

  • Able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Able to work outdoors in hot and humid conditions for extended periods
Summer Schedule
  • Staff Training: June 1 – June 12
  • Camp Sessions: June 13 – August 7
Why This Role Matters

You'll spend the summer explaining things to people who don't know them yet. That's a skill, and it gets sharper every time you do it. You'll also be the one holding the snake when a camper decides to touch it, which is a bigger moment for them than it looks. That's a summer worth having.

Perfect for anyone studying biology or education, or anyone who loves animals, nature, and sharing God's creation with others.

Additional Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Employment is contingent on background and reference checks
