Job Description

Principal – ADAMS CEP Sterling POSITION SUMMARY

The Principal of the ADAMS CEP Program provides overall leadership, management, and oversight of the program. The Principal is responsible for ensuring effective day-to-day and week-to-week operations, maintaining a high-quality educational environment, supporting and supervising program staff, communicating with parents and families, and ensuring the program operates in alignment with ADAMS' educational goals, values, policies, and approved budget.

The Principal serves as the primary point of leadership for the CEP Program and works closely with the ADAMS Education Department and other ADAMS departments to ensure effective coordination, communication, and delivery of educational programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProgram Leadership & Operations
  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of the CEP Program and its daily and weekly operations.

  • Develop and maintain program schedules, class assignments, teacher schedules, and student placements.

  • Ensure adequate staffing and coverage for scheduled classes and program activities.

  • Coordinate program calendars, meetings, events, and extracurricular activities.

  • Oversee student registration and enrollment processes.

  • Maintain accurate program records and ensure required information is submitted to the ADAMS Education Department.

  • Identify operational needs and recommend improvements to strengthen program effectiveness.

  • Coordinate with other ADAMS departments as needed to support program operations.

  • Attend Education Department meetings, program leadership meetings, and other meetings as requested.

Academic & Instructional Leadership
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers and teaching assistants, particularly newly hired staff.

  • Ensure teachers develop and submit appropriate lesson plans in accordance with program expectations.

  • Monitor instructional quality and ensure curriculum and classroom activities align with CEP Program objectives.

  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback and coaching to teachers.

  • Evaluate teacher performance and address areas requiring additional support or development.

  • Promote effective teaching practices and age-appropriate learning experiences.

  • Assess the overall effectiveness of the program and recommend enhancements to curriculum, instruction, and student programming.

Staff Supervision & Development
  • Provide direct supervision and ongoing support to CEP Program staff.

  • Establish clear expectations regarding staff responsibilities, professionalism, attendance, communication, and performance.

  • Organize and facilitate staff meetings, orientations, and trainings.

  • Support onboarding and integration of new teachers and program staff.

  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to staff.

  • Address staff concerns and performance matters in coordination with the ADAMS Education Department and Human Resources, as appropriate.

  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and team-oriented working environment.

Student Experience & Safety
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, inclusive, enjoyable, and stimulating learning environment for all students.

  • Ensure appropriate supervision of students during classes, activities, recreation periods, and special events.

  • Support positive student engagement, behavior, and development.

  • Serve as a positive Islamic and professional role model for students and staff.

  • Identify student needs or concerns and work with teachers, parents, and ADAMS leadership to address them appropriately.

  • Ensure program practices support the safety and well-being of children and youth.

Parent & Community Engagement
  • Serve as a primary point of communication between the CEP Program and parents/guardians.

  • Ensure parents receive timely and consistent communication regarding schedules, program updates, events, student expectations, and other relevant information.

  • Respond professionally and promptly to parent questions and concerns.

  • Build positive relationships with students, families, staff, volunteers, and the broader ADAMS community.

  • Gather feedback from families and staff to identify opportunities to strengthen the program.

Program Outreach & Enrollment
  • Work with the ADAMS team to plan and execute educational, spiritual, social, and recreational programming for students in grades KG–12.

  • Support outreach and marketing efforts to increase awareness and participation in the CEP Program.

  • Oversee and coordinate student registration and enrollment activities.

  • Communicate program offerings, schedules, and opportunities to the ADAMS community.

  • Collaborate with ADAMS departments on communications, events, and community outreach initiatives.

Budget & Financial Management
  • Manage program activities in accordance with the approved CEP Program budget.

  • Monitor program expenses and assist with financial planning and budget management.

  • Review program needs and coordinate the purchase of books, curriculum materials, classroom supplies, and other necessary resources.

  • Ensure financial transactions and purchases follow ADAMS policies and established approval processes.

  • Provide requested budget, expense, enrollment, or operational information to ADAMS leadership.

Events & Special Programming
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise school events, extracurricular activities, and special programs.

  • Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, communication, and logistical preparation for program events.

  • Collaborate with ADAMS staff and departments when programs or events require organization-wide support.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Education Management, Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Prior experience working in an educational, youth, school, or community-based program.

  • Previous experience supervising or leading employees, teachers, or volunteers preferred.

  • Strong understanding of Islamic values and the ability to support ADAMS' mission and educational objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and youth.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, students, and organizational leadership.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Ability to learn and effectively use databases, registration systems, and other technology utilized by ADAMS.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while independently managing assigned responsibilities.

  • Ability to understand and relate to the experiences and cultural environment of today's children and youth.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Position requires regular interaction with children, parents, teachers, staff, volunteers, and members of the ADAMS community.

  • Must be available during scheduled CEP Program hours and for required meetings, trainings, events, and special programming.

  • Evening and/or weekend availability may be required depending on program operations and events.

  • Duties may require movement throughout classrooms and program facilities and participation in school activities and events.
