Pharmacy Analyst Essential Job Duties:

  • Provides leadership for pharmacy in development and implementations of PIS.
  • Plans, installs, and maintains pharmacy computerization projects from an Information Technology (IT) standpoint.
  • Assists with design, planning, analysis, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of pharmacy computer applications.
  • Assists with creating plans for projects including deadlines and critical paths.
  • Assists in gathering information for analysis.
  • Works closely with finance department to develop charge master price modeling.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining charge description master (cdm) numbers.
  • Maintains Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes in financial system.
  • Works closely with patient accounts department to aide in audits and billing questions.
  • Maintains formulary in automated medication dispensing system.
  • Prepares documentation, narratives, file layouts, and file specifications when required.
  • Effectively communicates aspects of the project with other members of the project team.
  • Reports status and progress of projects to management regularly.
  • Responds to personnel's questions and problems in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provides necessary technical support during PIS software and hardware problems.
  • Provides support during PIS upgrade implementations.
  • Maintains documentation of educational activities and projects in compliance with departmental, organizational, and external agency requirements.
  • Participates in continuing education and professional association activities to maintain current knowledge of healthcare education practices and new developments in healthcare.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development.

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related field.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy activities and duties.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.
  • Experience with personal computers, software, and networks.
  • Computer proficiency required for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Must meet and deal successfully with a wide variety of people.
  • Adept at building productive cross-departmental relationships.
  • Must be willing to be part of a team-unit and cooperate in the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Must be accomplished in written and verbal business communication.
  • Must have very strong analytics skills and ability to work on multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Must be comfortable working in a high performing, fast paced environment.
  • Flexible work schedule as required.
