Role purpose

The Tendering & Estimating Intern will support the tendering and estimating process, gaining practical experience in project commercials and the technical aspects of mechanical and/or electrical engineering projects. The role will provide exposure to both the technical and commercial aspects of project delivery and offer a valuable development opportunity for someone looking to build a career in this area.

Key responsibilities

· Preparation of project quotations, estimates and tender pricing.

· Review of client RFQs, specifications, drawings and tender documentation.

· Support development and maintenance of detailed tender pricing sheets.

· Preparation of material and equipment quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.

· Issuing enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and obtaining quotations.

· Reviewing supplier quotations against project requirements.

· Assisting with cost comparisons and selection of appropriate pricing allowances.

· Identification and tracking of key tender assumptions, exclusions and clarifications.

· Supporting the preparation and maintenance of tender clarification/RFI logs.

· Assisting in identifying potential scope gaps or conflicting requirements within tender documentation.

· Preparation of supporting commercial and technical information for client proposals.

· Maintaining organised tender documentation and pricing records.

· Supporting tender handover information for successful projects.

· Liaising internally with Engineering, Procurement, Production, Project Management and Sales as required to develop

quotations.

· Supporting continuous improvement of Cental's estimating tools, pricing databases, templates and tender processes.

Skills and Experience

· Studying towards or recently completed a qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management,

Business/Commerce or a related discipline.

· Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

· Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

· An interest in estimating, project costing and the commercial side of engineering.

· Ability to interpret technical information, drawings and specifications would be advantageous.
