Installation Technician in Garner, North Carolina at COMPRESSION MECHANICAL LLC

Position Summary

Compression Mechanical is seeking a motivated, mechanically inclined Installation Technician to join our traveling installation team. This position involves installing industrial air compressors, dryers, filtration equipment, and compressed air piping systems at customer facilities throughout our service territory.

TRAVEL IS A REQUIRED AND ESSENTIAL PART OF THIS POSITION. Technicians must be willing and able to travel regularly to customer job sites, stay overnight for multi-day projects, and work away from home as project schedules require. Some projects may require extended travel, early departures, longer workdays, and occasional weekend or after-hours work.

Technicians work alongside experienced installers and foremen to complete industrial equipment installations, piping projects, and system modifications. This hands-on position offers opportunities to develop technical skills and advance into lead installer or foreman roles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Travel to customer facilities to perform compressed air equipment and piping installations.
• Install, remove, replace, and relocate industrial air compressors, air dryers, receivers, filters, and related equipment.
• Install compressed air piping systems, including aluminum piping, headers, drops, fittings, and isolation valves.
• Assist with ventilation ductwork, equipment rigging, material handling, and mechanical connections.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, pipe-cutting equipment, threading machines, and other installation equipment safely.
• Assist with minor fabrication, welding, concrete work, and other mechanical tasks as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites, including proper setup and cleanup.
• Communicate project progress, material needs, and job site concerns to the Installation Foreman or Service Coordinator.
• Complete daily reports and required job documentation.
• Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean and professional condition.
• Follow company safety policies, customer requirements, and applicable OSHA standards.

Requirements:

· Mechanically inclined with basic electrical understanding in an industrial setting.

· Knowledge of hand/power tools and safety practices.

· Communication (verbal and written) and Interpersonal skills.

· Experience in industrial installation, mechanical construction, pipefitting, plumbing, or a related trade preferred.

· Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

· Team-oriented and able to take direction.

· Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently; occasionally 100+ lbs.

· Climb ladders, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in inclement weather or after hours, weekends, and holidays if required

· Walk and stand for extended periods; perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

· Travel required

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Clean driving record and ability to operate a service van or truck.

· Some experience in industrial or construction environments is preferred.

· Willingness to complete on-the-job safety training (OSHA, MSHA, etc.).
