This role is responsible for leading a software development and R&D operations team focused on delivering high-quality, innovative solutions in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. You will oversee the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of development initiatives while ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives. The position combines technical oversight with people leadership, requiring a strong balance of strategic thinking, delivery management, and team development. You will foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and innovation while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Acting as a key connector between engineering execution and business priorities, you will help shape product evolution and operational excellence. This is a remote-first role across the United States with occasional travel for collaboration and leadership engagement.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead R&D operations and ensure the successful delivery of software development initiatives while driving innovation and team performance.

  • Lead, mentor, and support the R&D development team, promoting collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Define and execute R&D strategies aligned with organizational goals, product roadmap, and technical priorities.
  • Oversee project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of development initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement by fostering innovation, agility, and high-quality engineering practices across the team.
  • Monitor project progress, prepare performance and status reports, and present updates to senior leadership.
  • Ensure coordination across stakeholders to maintain alignment between technical execution and business expectations.
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong software development expertise combined with proven leadership experience in managing technical teams and complex projects.

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with strong technical understanding of engineering processes.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role within R&D or software delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated success in managing software development projects from concept to delivery.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of software development standards, methodologies, and best practices.
