This Role:

Our collaborative finance team is seeking a Cost Accountant. This would be a full-time, hybrid role located in Grand Rapids, MI reporting to our Cost Accounting Manager.

What You Will Do:

The Cost Accountant supports Duravent’ s success by calculating and analyzing production costs, such as materials, labor, and overhead, manage inventory valuation, assists in budgeting and financial forecasting, and provides data-driven insights to support managerial decision-making, cost reduction initiatives, and profitability analysis. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting principles to ensure accurate cost reporting and contribute to operational efficiency.

How You Will Do It:

  • Standard Costing: Develop, maintain, and review standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead. Assist in annual cost roll in Oracle and SAP as well as support Interco costing and reconciliation.
  • Cost Analysis & Reporting: Assist on the analysis of manufacturing costs, investigate and explanation of the reasons for variances and adjustments.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and value inventory levels. Participate in quarterly E&O calculation, analysis and reporting.
  • Month End and audit activities: Assist with month-end closing activities, including investigating and correcting accounting entries as needed as well as performing account reconciliations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the budget and financial forecast processes.
  • Collaborate with outside departments: Engineering team on new products costing. procurement team for setting up new material costs and analyzing market variances. Operations team for monitoring and analysis production costs.
  • Perform ad-hoc cost projects and analyses: Performs additional responsibilities to achieve business objectives as well as providing support to other departments.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in manufacturing cost accounting
  • Familiarity with Oracle and SAP ERP (strongly preferred)
  • Ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, an analytical mindset, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Hold current authorization for employment in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future (required)
