Cash Applications Specialist

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Cash Applications Specialist in United States.

This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of financial operations within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
You will be responsible for accurately applying and reconciling client payments while resolving discrepancies across accounts.
The position involves close partnership with Accounts Receivable, Accounting, and Finance teams to maintain clean financial records.
You will contribute directly to healthy cash flow management by investigating and resolving payment-related issues.
The role also supports month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
In addition, you will help improve cash application processes by identifying workflow inefficiencies and suggesting enhancements.
This is a remote-first opportunity where precision, problem-solving, and collaboration are highly valued.

Accountabilities:
  • Accurately post, apply, and reconcile client payments to the appropriate accounts, ensuring proper coding, documentation, and timely processing.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies such as unapplied cash, short payments, overpayments, and misapplied transactions.
  • Investigate and analyze remittance information to identify root causes of payment issues and ensure accurate account balances.
  • Process payment corrections including voids, refunds, and adjustments while maintaining audit-ready documentation.
  • Maintain financial records, Excel-based tracking tools, and reconciliation reports supporting daily cash application activities.
  • Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding payment status, missing remittances, and resolution updates.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and supporting documentation preparation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional finance teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in cash management workflows.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy, speed, and scalability of cash application operations.
  • Contribute to additional finance-related projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • 1+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, accounting support, or a related finance role.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • High attention to detail with strong ability to detect and resolve discrepancies accurately.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate financial issues.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with professionalism in stakeholder interactions.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Proactive mindset with curiosity and a continuous improvement approach.
  • Adaptability and willingness to support evolving business needs.
  • Nice to have: experience with NetSuite, healthcare industry exposure, or formal education in accounting, finance, or business.
