Job Description
Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Vegetation Manager to oversee all nursery and vegetative cultivation operations within a licensed cannabis facility. This role is responsible for leading daily plant care activities, managing a cultivation team, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and maintaining high standards for plant health, consistency, and efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in commercial cannabis cultivation and thrives in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all nursery and vegetative operations, including environmental controls, irrigation, lighting, and feeding schedules
- Supervise, train, and motivate the vegetative/nursery team while maintaining high standards for quality, compliance, and productivity
- Implement and enforce SOPs for cloning, transplanting, pruning, pest management, and overall plant health monitoring
- Maintain accurate plant records in seed-to-sale systems (e.g., METRC) to ensure full regulatory compliance
- Track growth metrics and plant health data to optimize yields and reduce plant loss
- Coordinate with propagation, flowering, and IPM teams to ensure smooth plant transitions and operational consistency
- Manage nursery inventory, including nutrients, grow media, tools, and other cultivation supplies
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized cultivation environment
- Ensure all workflows align with compliance, safety, and production standards
Qualifications
- 2–3+ years of leadership experience managing cultivation or nursery teams in a licensed cannabis facility
- Strong knowledge of cannabis vegetative operations, including cloning, mother plants, and plant development stages
- Experience with environmental control systems, irrigation systems, and nutrient scheduling programs
- Proficiency with seed-to-sale tracking software (e.g., METRC) and regulatory compliance requirements
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with shifting demands
- Must meet all state cannabis employment and licensing requirements (background check, age requirements, etc.)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, standing, reaching, and repetitive motion
- Comfortable working in warm, humid greenhouse/grow environments with exposure to grow lights and cultivation inputs
- Ability to work safely around fertilizers, pesticides, and sanitation chemicals (PPE provided)
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, plant science, agriculture, or related field preferred
- Experience in high-volume commercial cannabis cultivation operations

Physical Requirements:- Ability to lift, carry, push, and move up to 60 pounds regularly throughout scheduled shifts.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while performing daily cultivation tasks.
- Comfortable working in hot, humid grow environments with temperatures ranging from approximately 75–85°F and humidity levels between 60–70%.
- Ability to work under high-intensity grow lighting for extended periods of time.
- Must possess strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform detailed tasks such as trimming, transplanting, cloning, pruning, and plant maintenance.
- Comfortable performing repetitive, detail-oriented work throughout the workday while maintaining consistency and quality standards.
- Ability to operate cultivation tools, irrigation equipment, sprayers, trimming equipment, and other facility systems safely and effectively.
- Comfortable working around cannabis plants, fertilizers, organic pesticides, soil, growing media, dust, and strong plant odors.
- Ability to maintain focus, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced cultivation environment with strict compliance requirements.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented cultivation setting.
- Ability to follow sanitation, safety, and compliance procedures precisely while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Comfortable moving throughout multiple grow rooms and cultivation areas during the course of a shift.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding plant health, equipment issues, and operational needs.
