Job Description

Head of Internal Technology & AI

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Head of Internal Technology & AI in Switzerland.

This role is designed for a senior transformation leader who will drive the evolution of an organization into a fully AI-native company, shaping both its internal technology landscape and its company-wide AI adoption strategy. You will own the end-to-end transformation journey, combining strategic leadership, change management, and hands-on technical understanding to embed AI into daily workflows across all teams. Acting as a key partner to executive leadership, you will define priorities, build roadmaps, and ensure measurable impact in productivity, automation, and operational excellence. The role also encompasses ownership of internal IT systems, AI tooling ecosystems, and the foundations that enable scalable, responsible AI usage. You will lead a cross-functional team spanning AI engineering and IT operations, ensuring reliability, governance, and continuous innovation. This is a high-impact position at the intersection of strategy, technology, and organizational transformation in a fast-scaling, remote-first environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Define and lead the organization’s AI transformation strategy, aligning initiatives with business priorities and long-term technology goals.
  • Build and manage a structured portfolio of AI initiatives, including prioritization, ownership, timelines, and measurable impact metrics.
  • Drive company-wide adoption of AI-first ways of working, improving productivity, automation, and decision-making across all departments.
  • Lead change management efforts, including AI literacy programs, upskilling initiatives, and leadership enablement for sustainable adoption.
  • Establish and evolve AI governance frameworks covering responsible usage, data readiness, tooling standards, and performance measurement.
  • Own internal AI engineering strategy, including tools, agents, automations, integrations, and shared services that enhance productivity.
  • Lead build-versus-buy decisions for AI tools and platforms, collaborating closely with executive and engineering leadership.
  • Oversee corporate IT operations end-to-end, including identity management, SaaS administration, device management, and internal support systems.
  • Ensure internal systems and data architecture are optimized for AI enablement, transparency, and scalability.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team spanning AI engineers, IT specialists, and operations professionals.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience leading end-to-end AI transformation, digital transformation, or large-scale technology change programs in a scaling organization.
  • Strong technical foundation with the ability to understand architecture, review code, and engage in meaningful technical discussions with engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management, driving adoption of new tools and ways of working across large organizations.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to structure complex cross-functional problems into clear, actionable roadmaps.
  • Experience managing internal technology or IT functions, including systems, tooling, and operational infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with modern AI engineering concepts such as LLMs, agents, MCPs, coding assistants, and integration frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience influencing senior executives and cross-functional leaders.
  • Ability to operate with a product mindset for internal tools and services, focusing on measurable business impact.
  • Experience leading teams responsible for both AI engineering and IT operations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to drive alignment at executive level.
  • Nice to have: experience with AI governance frameworks, regulatory considerations (e.g., EU AI Act), or marketplace/scale-up environments.

Benefits:

  • Fully remote-first working model with optional access to physical office spaces and co-working hubs.
  • Flexible work arrangements supporting autonomy and work-life balance.
  • Annual learning and development budget for courses, conferences, and professional growth.
  • Mental health and personal development support through external coaching and wellness partners.
  • Regular internal workshops and cross-team knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Participation in company-wide office weeks and team-building events.
  • High degree of ownership and autonomy in shaping strategic transformation initiatives.
  • Inclusive and values-driven culture focused on feedback, experimentation, and continuous learning.
