Job Title: Universal Service Worker
Department: Senior Residential
Status: Part-Time, non-exempt
Reports To: Manager
Compensation Starting Pay: $16.72, hourly
Description of Typical Work Schedule: 7am-3pm, 3-11pm, 11pm-7am, 9am-2pm (Hours set based on necessity of department or office.)
PURPOSE: The Universal Service Worker monitors the health status of the clients/individuals and address their health-related needs, such as changing bandages, dressing wounds, or reminding them to take medication. The USW provides assistance with routine healthcare tasks and/or activities of daily living, bathing, toileting, or ambulation. We might also help with tasks such as preparing meals, doing light housekeeping, and doing laundry depending on the patient's abilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide patients with help moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles and with dressing and grooming.
- Give medication reminders.
- Provide personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
- Serve meals.
- Care for patients by changing bed linens, washing and ironing laundry, cleaning, or assisting with their personal care.
- Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with supervisor.
- Entertain, converse with, or read aloud to patients to keep them mentally healthy and alert.
- Assist and engage patients in exercises and/or daily activities.
- Assess the value, importance, or quality of things or people.
- Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.
- Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
- Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, or verify information or data.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED
- Degree/Field Required: High school diploma (Related fields will be considered.)
- Additional Fields of Knowledge Important for the Role: Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Experience Required: No minimum experience required but prefer previous health care experience (in caregiving role).
- Licenses/Certifications Required: N/A
- Licenses/Certifications Preferred: CNA
VEHICLE RELATED REQUIREMENTS
- Access to reliable transportation to get to/from work: Required.
- Access to a reliable automobile: Not required, but preferred.
- Must provide proof of auto liability insurance (and continue to while working in this position): Not required, but preferred.
