The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll-related financial data across multiple systems. Working cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, and FP&A teams, this position supports critical month-end close activities and financial reporting. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to independently investigate and resolve discrepancies. - Manage monthly journal entries and reconciliations related to payroll and benefits accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls and US GAAP standards.
- Partner closely with Payroll and HR teams to validate payroll data completeness, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely financial reporting.
- Perform detailed variance and flux analysis on compensation-related expenses, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement using advanced analytics tools.
- Reconcile benefits programs across systems, including retirement and health-related plans, and resolve variances efficiently.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a focus on payroll and compensation accounting.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including automation and AI-enabled enhancements to accounting workflows.
- Assist with additional accounting areas such as prepaids and fixed assets as needed to support team priorities and workload balance.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on payroll, compensation, or related areas, ideally within a high-growth SaaS environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large and complex datasets; familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite and payroll platforms such as ADP.
- Experience reconciling employee benefits programs, including 401(k) and HSA plans, using providers such as Fidelity and Navia Benefits.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a proven ability to identify discrepancies and implement process improvements.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to audit-ready documentation and financial accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict month-end deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration with HR, Payroll, and Benefits teams.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.
