DTiQ is looking for a hands-on Lead Full Stack Engineer to join our Drive-Thru engineering team based in Melbourne.
Our Drive-Thru platform provides quick-service restaurant operators across the globe with real-time speed-of-service information and operational insights. The technology spans Angular applications, Java services, containers, Linux-based edge devices, IoT messaging, computer vision and cloud-connected systems.
This role goes beyond typical web development. It would suit a senior engineer who enjoys hands-on software development, solving complex technical problems and helping other engineers make sound technical decisions.
You will work across the full product stack, from user interfaces and backend services through to Linux devices, messaging and network communications.
What you will do
- Design and develop front-end applications using Angular and TypeScript.
- Build backend services, APIs and integrations using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop and maintain software running on Linux-based edge devices.
- Implement communication between devices, applications and services using MQTT, REST APIs and event-driven patterns.
- Build, deploy and troubleshoot containerised applications using Docker.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues across applications, Linux systems, devices, messaging and networks.
- Lead the technical design and delivery of major product improvements.
- Review code and designs, mentor engineers and improve engineering practices.
- Improve system reliability, diagnostics, deployment and failure recovery.
- Work closely with Product, QA, Computer Vision, Support and Infrastructure teams.
What you will bring
Core requirements
- Strong commercial experience across front-end and backend software development.
- Strong experience with modern Angular, preferably Angular 17 or later.
- Strong TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS skills.
- Experience with standalone components, signals, reactive programming and state management.
- Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience designing maintainable backend services, REST APIs, asynchronous processing and application integrations.
- Strong practical Linux skills, including shell scripting.
- Experience with Docker and containerised applications.
- Experience with MQTT or comparable messaging technologies.
- Sound networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ports, routing and firewalls.
- Experience working with distributed systems, edge devices or intermittently connected environments.
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with Git, code reviews, automated testing and CI/CD.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
