About the Role

Job Title: Production Support Specialist
Department: Operations
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Plant Manager

Job Summary

The Production Support Specialist provides administrative and operational support to the manufacturing team by maintaining production schedules, coordinating shipping documentation, and assisting the Quality department as needed. This position serves as a cross-functional resource between Production, Shipping, Customer Service, and Quality to ensure accurate data, timely communication, and efficient workflow throughout the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

None.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain production schedules and update work orders within the ERP system (SYSPRO) to support daily manufacturing operations.
  • Enter and maintain accurate production, inventory, and scheduling data.
  • Prepare shipping documents, Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, and other required shipping paperwork.
  • Coordinate shipment scheduling with carriers and communicate shipping status with internal departments.
  • Assist with inventory transactions, material movement documentation, and production reporting.
  • Provide backup support to the Quality department by maintaining quality documentation, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), inspection records, and customer quality files.
  • Verify production paperwork for accuracy and completeness before release.
  • Monitor production priorities and communicate scheduling updates to Production, Customer Service, and Management.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical production, shipping, and quality records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies and maintaining accurate operational data.
  • Assist with other administrative and operational duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing, production planning, scheduling, shipping, or operations support role preferred.
  • Experience using ERP software, preferably SYSPRO, is strongly preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to supporting operational excellence.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-based within a manufacturing facility.
  • Frequent interaction with production and warehouse personnel.
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing equipment, warehouse traffic, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely enter production and warehouse areas while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
