The Application Engineer I holds a critical position within our organization, contributing significantly to the development of drawing packages for high-voltage switchgear and power switching devices. Working in close collaboration with sales, manufacturing, and quality teams, you will assume the vital role of being the key technical advisor and product advocate. Your primary objective will be to create and peer review precise drawing packages for fabricators and customers, while also identifying and delivering dependable solutions for technical challenges. By ensuring complete customer satisfaction throughout the entire engineering process, your efforts will contribute to establishing and maintaining strong relationships. It is imperative that you consistently uphold expert knowledge in your field to excel in this role.

Responsibilities:
Primary:
- Create and modify 2D and 3D engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Conduct static analysis to ensure the integrity and safety of product designs.
- Perform mechanical, structural, and electrical calculations to support product design and development.
- Utilize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure accurate manufacturing and assembly of components.
- Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical support to address customer inquiries and issues.
- Participate in design reviews, providing input and suggestions for product improvement.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering.
- Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application.
- Identify customer's needs and engineering opportunities to help future growth.
- Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
- Provide status reports of ongoing and future projects.
- Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and correspondence within company-approved databases.
- Travel to project sites to preform start-up, integration, sales support, and training services as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, or A.A.S. in Computer-aided Drafting and Design with four years applied experience.
- Software experience: SolidWorks, MS Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural calculations.
- Proficiency in statics and mechanics.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in a similar role or industry is a plus.
- Effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to the sales team, production, and customers.
- Available for travel (<10%).
Preferred:
- Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Software experience: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Office Suite
- Project Management experience would be beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of electrical calculations.
- Software programming experience, such as C++, SQL, VBA, and macros.
- Direct experience in high-voltage switchgear and power switching devices.
- Electrical controls wiring and schematic experience.
