Senior Business Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Business Analyst based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of digital healthcare solutions by transforming complex business needs into impactful software capabilities.
You will act as a key bridge between product, technology, design, and customer teams, ensuring solutions are functional, intuitive, and aligned with user expectations.
The position focuses on modernizing HR and Payroll management platforms through strong business analysis, functional design, and Agile delivery practices.
You will contribute throughout the full product lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering to implementation and continuous improvement.
The role encourages innovation through the responsible use of AI tools to enhance analysis, documentation, and solution design processes.

Accountabilities:

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will serve as a functional expert responsible for translating business challenges into effective digital solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define product improvements, guide functional decisions, and ensure high-quality delivery throughout the Agile development lifecycle.

  • Analyze business requirements, user needs, and operational challenges to define clear functional solutions.
  • Lead discovery activities, workshops, and discussions with product teams, customers, and stakeholders to identify opportunities and validate solutions.
  • Design functional behaviors, user journeys, business rules, workflows, validations, and interactions between application components.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX teams to create and validate wireframes, prototypes, and user-centered designs.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional documentation for development teams.
  • Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives within Agile delivery processes.
  • Partner with developers and QA teams to clarify requirements, define test scenarios, and validate delivered functionality.
  • Contribute to the modernization and continuous improvement of web-based HR and Payroll solutions.
  • Use AI-powered tools to improve business analysis activities, including research, documentation, prototyping, and user story creation while maintaining quality and critical judgment.
  • Mentor other analysts and contribute to improving business analysis practices, methodologies, and team standards.
  • Identify opportunities where AI can enhance product capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers, product leaders, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis expertise, functional design capabilities, and experience working in modern software development environments. You should be comfortable collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders while applying structured problem-solving and user-focused thinking.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in business analysis or functional analysis within a software development environment.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering web-based solutions.
  • Strong experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, define user stories, create acceptance criteria, and produce functional documentation.
  • Experience collaborating with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, Developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of modern web application design principles, REST APIs, and application integrations.
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Axure, or Balsamiq.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and software delivery collaboration tools.
  • Practical experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms, including prompt engineering skills.
  • Ability to integrate AI into analysis, documentation, prototyping, and product improvement activities responsibly.
  • Knowledge of HR, Payroll, Talent Management, or unionized work environments is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards such as WCAG is considered an asset.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and workshop leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, synthesis abilities, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ownership mindset with excellent organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learning in evolving technology environments.
  • Excellent written and spoken French is required due to the communication needs of the role. English proficiency is considered an asset.
