Job Description

Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer leads the transition of new products from the design phase into full-scale production. This role is responsible for building and maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), establishing new part numbers, and establishing production routing. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates closely with New Product Development (NPD) and Operations to determine the best manufacturing practices and assembly methods. Additionally, this role owns the processes for revision changes, continuous design improvements, design work, and managing supplier quality notifications to ensure seamless product integration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 New Product Introduction (NPI): Lead the seamless transition of new products from the initial design phase into full-scale production.
 BOM & Routing Management: Build, structure, and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), establish new part numbers, and define manufacturing/assembly routing.
 Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with New Product Development (NPD) and Operations teams to establish optimal manufacturing practices, workflow layouts, and assembly methods.
 Engineering Change Control: Own and execute the processes for engineering revision changes and continuous design/process improvements.
 Design & Tooling Support: Conduct design work as needed to support manufacturing lines, assembly fixtures, and product improvements.
 Supplier Quality: Manage supplier quality notifications (SQNs) to address component issues and ensure seamless integration of external materials into production.
 Validation & Testing: Assess, verify, and provide design/process validation criteria to ensure product functionality, performance, and manufacturability.
 Vendor Management: Work with established outside vendors regarding product oversight, timelines, and quality control.

Qualifications | Competencies | Success Factors

Education and Experience
 Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial) or a related technical field.
 Experience: Proven experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role within a mechanical manufacturing or assembly environment.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Required
 Systems: Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems (essential for managing BOMs, part numbers, and routing).
 Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
(GD&T) and CAD design software.
 Methodologies: Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma
principles to drive continuous improvement.
 Quality & Inspection: Deep understanding of inspection methods and manufacturing processes.
 Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
 Software: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
This position operates in a combined office and manufacturing production environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
 Daily Mobility: Requires standing, squatting, bending, sitting, and kneeling up to 20% to 50% daily.
 Lifting & Handling: Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with assistance daily. Ability to firmly handle/grasp objects up to 50 pounds.
 Repetitive Motion: Ability to conduct hand/wrist repetitions and deviate wrist (side-to-side) daily.
 Environmental Exposure: Subject to periodic exposures to varying temperatures, occasional noise levels above 85 Decibels, occasional fumes/mist, and hazardous chemicals typical of a manufacturing environment.
 Hours: Ability to work extended hours per the demands of the business. Standard
Operations Shift: M-Th 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM / Fri 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM.
 Travel Requirements: Up to 25% of travel required, including the ability to travel cross-border into Mexico.
