# Principal Mechanical Engineer - Process Equipment **Honey Brook, PA** **$115,000–$130,000 per year** **Full-Time | On-Site** Achilles is recruiting a **Principal Mechanical Engineer** to serve as a senior technical leader for a manufacturer of highly engineered steam and process equipment. This is an individual-contributor technical leadership role rather than a traditional people-management position. You will be a go-to engineer for a product line involving pressure, steam, mechanical systems, instrumentation, and controls integration. The right person will bring deep mechanical product-design experience and be comfortable helping other engineers solve difficult technical problems while still remaining hands-on with design, calculations, troubleshooting, and product development. ## What Youll Do - Serve as a senior technical resource for a complex engineered equipment product line - Lead mechanical design decisions and technical design reviews - Drive new product development from concept through design, prototyping, validation, and release - Troubleshoot field issues and lead root-cause analysis - Improve existing products for reliability, manufacturability, cost, and performance - Perform and review engineering calculations - Maintain and review ASME Section VIII calculation packages - Coordinate mechanical and controls design across integrated equipment systems - Develop and maintain engineering standards and reusable design practices - Mentor engineers through technical reviews and hands-on coaching - Work closely with manufacturing, quality, sales, purchasing, project management, testing, installation, and customers ## What Were Looking For - 8+ years of machine design, product design, or closely related mechanical engineering experience - Strong experience with several of the following: - Steam systems or steam-component selection - Pressure vessels or high-temperature/high-pressure equipment - Industrial process equipment - Pneumatic systems - Stress or failure calculations - Instrumentation and sensor selection - P&IDs - 3+ years of SolidWorks experience - Ability to create and review detailed engineering drawings and calculation packages - Experience setting or maintaining engineering design standards - Enough controls knowledge to work effectively around PLC/HMI systems, instrumentation, control valves, and I/O - Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Experience with autoclaves, sterile-processing equipment, ASME Section VIII, cGMP environments, SolidWorks PDM, welding/GD&T, or pressure equipment is highly valuable. A Pennsylvania PE license is a plus, but not required. This position is based on-site in Honey Brook, PA.
