Test Engineer - Industrial Automation Systems in Orlando, Florida at Viable Engineering Solutions LLC

We are seeking a Test Engineer to validate the performance, reliability, safety, and functionality of complex industrial automation systems. This role is responsible for developing comprehensive test plans, executing system-level testing, documenting results, and identifying issues before equipment is delivered to customers.

The ideal candidate will have experience with automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, motion systems, sensors, and industrial controls. They will serve as the primary advocate for system quality and ensure all equipment meets design specifications and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed test plans, test procedures, and validation checklists for custom automation systems.
• Execute functional, performance, safety, and reliability testing on complex industrial equipment.
• Validate automated systems that may include robotics, turntables, conveyors, part-loading fixtures, grinding, welding, milling, machining, vision systems, and material handling equipment.
• Verify proper operation of PLC-controlled systems, HMIs, sensors, safety circuits, servo systems, and industrial networks.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities.
• Identify, document, track, and verify the resolution of hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and process-related issues.
• Work closely with software, controls, robotics, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve defects.
• Generate detailed test reports, issue logs, and validation documentation.
• Ensure systems meet customer specifications, internal quality standards, and safety requirements before shipment.
• Assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Validate robotic system functionality, including motion sequences, path accuracy, tooling operation, and process repeatability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• Experience testing industrial automation equipment, manufacturing systems, or special-purpose machinery.
• Ability to develop structured test plans, test cases, and validation procedures.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software disciplines.
• Familiarity with industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, or similar), PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems.
• Experience interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and system documentation.
• Knowledge of industrial sensors, vision systems, safety devices, and automation equipment.
• Experience documenting defects, managing issue tracking, and preparing detailed test reports.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as robotic welding, machining, grinding, assembly, or material handling.
• Experience with machine vision systems, metrology equipment, and process validation.
• Familiarity with quality systems, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
