Utilities Excavator Operator in Bowmansville, Pennsylvania at Brubacher Excavating Inc

Operates tractor type vehicle equipped with a hydraulically powered bucket. Is responsible for maintaining job site and material in an organized and efficient order.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Be able to perform safe operations in active roadway work zones
• Digs trenches that meets OSHA requirements for trenching and excavating.
• Digs trenches to preset grades (pipe laser).
• Dig trenches and hold grade without the use of a laser.
• Unload materials.
• Stone in trenches when necessary.
• Make sure area is back to grade and has proper drainage.
• Move and use the stone box and trench box system.
• Set manholes, inlets, and other structures.
• Help in the backfill process.
• May work with a variety of attachments (hydraulic breaker, hydraulic tamper, grapple, stump. splitter, etc.).
• May dig inside trench box.
• Responsible for daily transportation to the job site.

Maintenance (on any attachments)

• Check fluids on machine and add if needed.
• Lubricate according to operator's manual instructions unless superseded by BEI policy and instruction.
• Perform daily visual inspection of the machine.
• Completes a daily inspection form.
• Clean tracks daily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• No formal education is required; trade school or related technical training is preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience operating a backhoe or similar equipment.
• Experience with trenching and/or excavation work required.
• Ability to understand and follow equipment operator manuals and manufacturer guidelines.
• Working knowledge of applicable safety policies and procedures, with the ability to identify hazards and take appropriate corrective action.
