Credentialing Coordinator

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Credentialing Coordinator based in United States.

This role supports the credentialing and recredentialing of medical staff and allied health professionals.
You will coordinate documentation, verifications, and background checks to ensure providers meet required standards.
The position plays an important role in maintaining accurate, confidential credentialing records and provider information.
You will work closely with medical staff leadership, healthcare professionals, and internal departments.
The role also supports credentialing committees and medical staff meetings through documentation and follow-up activities.
Success requires strong organization, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage changing priorities.
This is a full-time, remote opportunity supporting critical healthcare administration and compliance processes.

Accountabilities:
  • Coordinate appointment, reappointment, credentialing, and recredentialing activities for medical staff and allied health professionals.
  • Obtain, review, and verify education, experience, licensure, references, background checks, and other required documentation using online systems, correspondence, telephone inquiries, and reference questionnaires.
  • Ensure credentialing files and provider information are complete, accurate, confidential, and compliant with applicable standards, policies, bylaws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and maintenance of privilege documents, credentialing policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Assist with compliance related to Joint Commission standards, National Practitioner Data Bank guidelines, and applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Maintain systems and databases used to compile, retrieve, and track medical staff and credentialing information.
  • Support medical staff meetings, including committee documentation, meeting minutes, monthly credentialing updates, and follow-up on required actions.
  • Serve as an internal resource on credentialing matters, clinician privileges, and changes affecting health plan participation.
  • Monitor regulatory and environmental changes, identify relevant requirements or opportunities for collaboration, and communicate updates to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Complete special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned while managing frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; a college degree in a related field is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of related experience is preferred, particularly in credentialing, healthcare administration, medical staff services, or a similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of credentialing processes, medical staff organization, bylaws, rules and regulations, and applicable healthcare compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a demanding workload, competing priorities, and frequent interruptions.
  • Strong attention to detail, independent thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to handle non-routine situations under changing conditions.
  • Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals, internal departments, and leadership.
  • Ability to communicate assertively and exercise professional judgment and situational awareness when coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment and PC-based applications.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with credentialing personnel and other healthcare teams.
  • No specific professional license, registration, or certification is required.
