Job Description –Manufacturing Engineer

FSLA Status: Exempt

Location: Lordstown, OH

Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Primary Function: As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the process design, operation, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems and production processes. The successful candidate will build and improve industrial processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, maximize profitability, and ensure safe production operations. This role supports manufacturing operations through process development, launch activities, problem-solving, quality improvements, and implementation of best practices across production areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and production systems.
  • Assist in the launch of new programs.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement process and troubleshoot problems.
  • Provide analytical assessments to recommend changes to current and proposed processes.
  • Consult management and engineering to implement plans and recommendations.
  • Improve effectiveness of work order and task management in production environments.
  • Assist with engineering changes affecting manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment implementation.
  • Identify and implement solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, and cost.
  • Develop standardized work and process documentation.
  • Participate in product and manufacturing reviews.

  • Monitor process performance indicators and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Analyze and implement tooling or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Production, Maintenance, Quality, and contractors regarding manufacturing changes and ergonomic requirements.
  • Develop documents for new processes, technology, quality, ergonomics, follow-up on action items.
  • Daily tasks include analyzing design requirements, collaborating with cross functional teams, and ensuring the quality and ensuring manufacturing processes meet performance expectations.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major in Engineering or equivalent training and/or work experience

Required Experience

  • 5+ years manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting new program launches and production implementation activities.
  • Experience with manufacturing process development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, process control, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments is preferred.

  • Collaborates: Works effectively with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering teams.

Requires Skills/Licenses/Certifications

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Processes.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others in a team environment.
  • High level of analytical ability to make difficult decisions and solve complex/unusual problems.
  • High level of initiative and flexibility.
  • Ability to teach and train others including coaching/facilitation skills.
  • Ability to gather information, organize and make presentations to Senior Leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and learn quickly.
  • Proficient level of computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar).
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
