This is an independent contractor opportunity for an experienced, multilingual evaluator supporting luxury hospitality assessments across the Asia-Pacific region.
You will conduct discreet, unannounced evaluations of hotels, restaurants, spas, and cruise properties against rigorous quality standards.
The role combines extensive international travel with meticulous observation, documentation, and professional reporting.
Your assessments will contribute to annual hospitality ratings while providing valuable insights to industry clients.
You will work independently, managing travel logistics and evaluation deadlines while maintaining a consistently low profile.
The position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to operate confidently in unfamiliar environments.
Candidates should be flexible to travel regularly and ideally live near a major international airport.
- Conduct unannounced, incognito evaluations of assigned hospitality properties, applying established standards and official interpretations consistently.
- Manage travel itineraries for assigned evaluations in a cost-conscious manner while following applicable policies and procedures.
- Gather all information required to complete accurate and comprehensive evaluation reports.
- Maintain meticulous notes on property details, observations, logistics, and other information that may support future evaluation planning.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and headquarters to ensure accurate, complete, and timely reporting.
- Manage significant daily deadlines while balancing travel, evaluation activities, documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Participate in food and beverage experiences when required as part of assigned evaluations.
- Maintain a professional, discreet, and appropriate demeanor throughout all assignments.
- Protect the integrity of the incognito evaluation process by maintaining a low profile and avoiding conflicts of interest.
- 5–7 years of relevant professional experience, with strong familiarity with luxury travel and/or experience writing about travel, hospitality, food, wine, spa, style, or design preferred.
- Exceptional written English and strong verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English is required; exceptional Mandarin speaking and reading ability is a strong advantage, as is proficiency in other relevant regional languages.
- Extensive independent international travel experience and confidence navigating unfamiliar destinations.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage frequent deadlines.
- Extremely detail-oriented, mature, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent record-keeping skills and the ability to prepare precise, accurate reports manually and through digital systems.
- Strong technological proficiency and comfort using electronic tools for communication, documentation, and reporting.
- Familiarity with established hospitality evaluation standards and reporting processes is a plus.
- Ability to maintain a discreet, low-profile presence, including limiting online visibility or professional associations that could compromise evaluator independence.
- Must be based near a major international airport to support flexible and cost-effective travel.
- Availability to travel at least 10 days per month, including both domestic and international trips.
- Flexibility to travel on weekdays and weekends.
- Candidates must not hold a concurrent hospitality-industry position or another role creating a direct conflict of interest.
- Independent contractor engagement with compensation provided per completed evaluation.
- Extensive travel opportunities throughout the Asia-Pacific region, with occasional global assignments.
- Opportunity to evaluate luxury hotels, restaurants, spas, and cruise properties around the world.
- Fully remote working arrangement outside of assigned evaluations and travel.
- Opportunity to contribute to prestigious hospitality ratings and industry insights.
- Flexible and varied work environment suited to highly independent professionals.
- Entry into a talent pool for anticipated assignments beginning in early 2027.
