Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified Radiology Assistant in New Brunswick, NJ.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Basic computer skills and medical terminology

Preferred:

  • Certified Medical Assistant or currently enrolled in a radiology technologist program

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, 40 hours/week
  • Full-time Schedule

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently meets or exceeds patient and/or customer needs
  • Always maintains confidentiality
  • As a healthcare representative makes continuous efforts to identify opportunities to exceed patient's expectations
  • Uses ethical discretion in discussions related to patient, personal or organizational issues
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and Protected Health Information
  • Performs required tasks with little or no supervision
  • Actively promotes and follows HIPAA, OSHA, federal and/or state regulations, and all other safety standards
  • Ensures that equipment remains in good repair and calls for required service when needed
  • Uses radiation protection according to established protocols including pregnancy screening, shielding, personnel monitoring and in the administration of radionuclides
  • Practices universal precautions and sterile techniques according to OSHA standards
  • Assists the technical staff with patient flow and procedures
  • Able to explain the procedures being performed to the patient
  • Obtain clinical information from the patient or referring physician for the scheduled procedure
  • Schedules procedures per protocol
  • Prepares trays and appropriate forms for procedures
  • Use of Radiology system, equipment and patient handling
  • Handles all specimens per protocol
