You will lead and develop a team of cloud engineers while remaining technically engaged in architecture, delivery, reliability, and platform strategy.
The role combines people leadership with hands-on technical understanding across distributed systems, APIs, messaging, and cloud technologies.
You will help deliver secure, scalable, high-availability services used by healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers.
Working across Product, Security, Quality, Regulatory, Architecture, and other technology teams, you will turn business needs into sustainable engineering outcomes.
The environment is collaborative, distributed, and innovation-oriented, with a strong emphasis on psychological safety, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
This is an opportunity to shape both the technical direction and the long-term growth of a cloud engineering organization in a regulated healthcare environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of cloud software engineers, establishing clear expectations while fostering accountability, inclusion, psychological safety, continuous learning, and professional growth.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, succession planning, knowledge sharing, and team development initiatives to strengthen engineering capabilities and organizational resilience.
  • Provide technical leadership across cloud-based and distributed systems, contributing to architecture, design reviews, technical planning, risk assessment, and significant operational decisions.
  • Guide the development of Go-based cloud platforms and services, including high-volume, low-latency applications, APIs, asynchronous processing, messaging, and event-streaming capabilities.
  • Ensure platform solutions meet high standards for scalability, reliability, availability, security, observability, maintainability, and overall engineering quality.
  • Partner with Product leaders, technical stakeholders, Architecture, Information Security, Quality, Regulatory, and business teams to translate strategic objectives into engineering priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Identify delivery risks, capacity constraints, dependencies, and execution challenges, communicating progress, trade-offs, and recommended actions to stakeholders.
  • Balance short-term delivery commitments with long-term platform health by prioritizing technical debt reduction, performance, security, quality, operability, and sustainable architecture.
  • Encourage pragmatic innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and new approaches based on customer needs, technical evidence, business value, and risk.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and integrate APIs and platform capabilities that enable secure sharing and use of medical data.
  • Establish and promote modern engineering practices, including automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, secure development, and effective operational processes.
  • Build trusted relationships across a distributed organization and communicate complex technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay current with cloud technologies and industry trends, recommending improvements that support innovation, platform adoption, reliability, and business objectives.
  • Ensure engineering activities support applicable FDA and other global regulatory requirements within a healthcare environment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or 6+ years with a Master’s degree, including significant software engineering and technical leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting engineers across multiple product teams, programs, or matrixed organizational structures.
  • Strong software engineering background with cloud-based or distributed systems and the technical fluency to participate credibly in architecture, risk, and delivery discussions.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex asynchronous messaging, backend processing, and highly available systems.
  • Strong understanding of scalable architecture, system reliability, monitoring, maintainability, and long-term platform sustainability.
  • Experience translating business and product objectives into engineering priorities, delivery plans, and measurable results.
  • Ability to balance delivery speed with security, quality, reliability, maintainability, and technical debt considerations.
  • Experience coaching engineers in technical problem-solving, decision-making, professional development, and effective collaboration.
  • Strong communication, listening, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively in distributed and asynchronous environments.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and practical software development experience.
  • Preferred experience leading teams developing production software in Go or another modern cloud-native programming language.
  • Familiarity with public cloud platforms and managed database, messaging, event-streaming, API, and service technologies.
  • Experience treating an internal platform as a product, with attention to developer experience, adoption, reliability, and measurable business value.
  • Experience with agile product development and modern software engineering practices such as automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, and secure development.
  • Experience in digital health, medical devices, or another regulated industry is a plus, particularly experience developing products subject to FDA or comparable regulatory requirements.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary of approximately $99,300–$198,700, with actual compensation varying by location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
  • Remote work opportunities within the United States, with additional locations including Florida and California.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, including access to a Health Investment Plan PPO option.
  • Retirement savings plan with a strong employer contribution.
  • Tuition reimbursement and education support programs, including student debt assistance and pathways toward earning a bachelor’s degree.
  • Career development opportunities within a large international organization.
  • Opportunities to work on technologies that contribute to digital healthcare and improved patient outcomes.
  • Supportive environment emphasizing inclusion, professional growth, continuous learning, and work-life well-being.
  • Approximately 5% travel expected.
  • Full-time position with standard working hours.
