Description:

A front-line leader of our Milling Department is responsible for set-up, operation, and oversight of our CNC Mill machines. As the Lead you will support the operator’s activities to ensure that machining is completed to meet appropriate quality standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements. The ideal candidate is an optimistic, high-integrity team player with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Leading a team of CNC machinists, delegating tasks, and providing guidance and support.
  • Train and coach new hires on policies and procedures.
  • Set up and operate CNC mill machines using set up sheets and written instructions.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to programming, machine operation, and other manufacturing processes.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and promoting safe work practices.
  • Monitors labor entries.
  • Study blueprints, layouts, sketches, or work orders to assess work piece specifications, determine tooling instructions, tools and materials needed and the sequence of operation.
  • Study job packets and organize materials for next order during cycles to reduce cycle & set up time.
  • Monitor and make recommendations to maintain and improve efficiencies while maintaining quality.
  • Share expertise and knowledge throughout the machine shop and be a focal point for advice on machining operations.
  • Effectively communicating with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and efficient production.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • 7+ years’ experience of working unaided on setting up and operating 3 axis, 4 axis, 5 axis, and horizontal machining centers
  • Ability to edit and troubleshoot CNC machinery
  • Preferred control experience: Fanuc
  • Ability to change and adapt work behaviors based on a constantly changing production schedule.
  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills
